Equity-Informed Grant Application and Research Support
Mx. Owen “Jay” Greene, MPH (they/them)
Non-profit organizations and small businesses often have difficulty obtaining grant awards or other funding due to the time, effort, and specialized knowledge required for a successful application. I leverage my experience reviewing grant applications and researching evidence-based public policy to help you create a strong grant application. I can assist you in making your application more competitive by developing an evaluation framework that ensures compliance with outcome reporting requirements. I offer project management services and administrative support for the application process. I also offer other consulting services based on my experience as a researcher, writer, and administrative assistant.
I strive to make the consulting process as inclusive as possible for people of all neurotypes. When you contact me, please let me how you prefer to communicate (email, text, phone call, etc.) and what accommodations you need to communicate effectively. If you’re not sure what to ask for, I’m happy to give you a list of options. Some examples include:
- Providing a list of questions or topics before a meeting to give you time to process them
- Emailing you a summary of our conversation after a meeting or phone call to support your memory
- Choosing a meeting length and cadence that works for both of us
- Using specific document formatting to help address vision loss or executive functioning challenges
Email me at info@ojgconsulting.com with any questions, comments, project ideas, or requests for information. I look forward to hearing from you.
Other Consulting Services
- Preparing research briefs: I have extensive experience preparing research summaries to support evidence-based educational outreach campaigns and Vermont state legislative testimony. (Note: I will not engage in lobbying on a client’s behalf. I will only do consulting work to support advocacy or legislative testimony if my work products are used in compliance with the exemptions specified in 2 V.S.A. § 262.)
- Sensitivity reading: as a sensitivity reader, I help organizations write about topics including gender, disability, and race using respectful, context-appropriate terms. I have served as a sensitivity reader for public-facing reports, education and outreach materials, websites, training scripts, and organizational policy documents. I have some experience reviewing short fiction stories as part of the SCP Foundation author community. Please reach out if you’re interested in discussing sensitivity reading for a fiction or nonfiction creative writing project!
- Project-based administrative support: I have significant experience assisting with tasks such as scheduling meetings, creating agendas, taking comprehensive notes, and sending follow-up communications. Please contact me if you have unmet project management needs that you would like to discuss further. (Note: I do not offer meeting facilitation services.)
